"I pray to the gods and ancestors that your family will always be together, even when one of you crosses into the spirit world. To family and to community"
Page 45, Old man

Significance: This quote is sad in a way because this happened before they all got killed so now what the old man said in a way is not true because they are all dead. The old man still hopes that they will be together someday. Maybe when they die.

Personal connection: I think that I would want to be with my family when i was dead. I in a way wish that I could know what happens when you die. I'm not sure if I believe in a spirit world but I hope that there is something.

Would you want to be with your family after you died?

“My children, you must hurry now, and my blessings are with you.”

Significance: I really like this woman she and her family were taking care of Ishmael and his friends. The people in the village had found out about them and were our to capture Ishmael and his friends. And she had warned them to protect them. I would not have done that but I'm glad that she did

Character judgment: I love the old woman's ability to stand up for her self. If i had been in that situation i would not have helped even if they were children. She could stand up for what she believed was right even though there were killers after them and she could have gotten hurt.
Would you have put your life on the line for strangers that were children?

Quote 1: I like your quote choice, because it was one of the few quotes that Ishmael himself didn't say, but was still powerful. I also think it's a little sad, because death is pretty much separation. I guess, like you said, that death is when they come together once more.

Question 1: Of course I would want to be with my family. However, I wouldn't want to cost them their lives if they were still alive. When we are all dead, I would like to be in the same place as them, so we can live "life" once more.

Quote 2: I also thought this quote was really surprising, mostly because nearly everyone shunned Ishmael and his friends. Even in a war-torn world, there are still those with a pure soul, and I highly respect those who help others in a time of need.

Question 2: It depends on the situation. I would want to help them, but I probably wouldn't if it was a life-or-death situation for me. Even though I might not be able to help them in fear of my own life, I have the utmost respect for those who do.
