Lord of the flies
Chapter 12: Cry of the Hunters
Perspective: Jack
Blood and rescue
I was so angry how dare Ralph come into my camp and disrupt it like this. Everyone was talking, oh Ralph oh Ralph. He shouldn’t have that much power over my people. Some of the boys were just wandering around others were eating meat and beginning to diddle. I saw the twins sitting in a corner looking like outcasts, well they are. Serves them right for not joining our tribe in the first place.
The ululations of the boys startled me, they started singing that annoying song again “kill the pig cut its thought spill its blood” I mean I had made it up and I didn’t go around singing it all the time. I was thinking about sending a cordon of soldiers out to look for Ralph but I decided to play nice this one time and let him die in peace.
I walked over to the twins. The second they saw me walking over they immediately looked away. They knew something. “Where is Ralph” I said glaring at them. I don’t know said Sam. Oh really I replied and jabbed him with the but of my spear. Hah., I glared at them and was about to poke him with the other side of my spear when Eric spoke up. He’s in the forest. Well duh I knew that, where else would he be. But at least they were talking. He’s somewhere near here though. That’s were he said he would be. Oh so this little brat had actually had a conversation with him.
I hissed in frustration why couldn’t he just die already!
Let’s go I said and jabbed his ribs. He let out a little gasp of pain than got up. Were are we going, he said. Were going to go find Ralph. Other people had been listening to our conversation and one offered up an idea. Burn down the forest that’ill get him out of hiding. That was actually a good idea I thought, but I didn’t say anything to the boy because I didn’t want him to think I liked him.
As we were getting our spears and running out of camp we passed the distended body of the sow which had been left in a corner to rot, flies were gathered at her body buzzing around.
We set of. We saw him about around here, Eric said. I heard a rustling in the bushes were he was pointing I motioned everyone to be quiet and crept closer. Then suddenly Ralph burst out of the shadows a wild look in his eyes. He was covered in blood and dirt and had a weird look to him, it took me only a few seconds to understand this. Then we were running after him through the trees and smoke, down the beach and then he went around a bend. We ran around the corner and he was just standing there looking at a man, and yes I do mean an actual adult man. We all just stood there dumbfounded. He wore a blue suede jacked with gold trim and silver epaulettes. He was talking to Ralph and every once in a while looking over at us. I heard him ask how many dead. I would not want to reply to that question…then the reality of what was happening struck me, we were free we were of this island, we could go home and see our families and get our life’s back. Tears of joy and sadness for all who had been lost stung my eyes, I cried and I was not embarrassed that other boys would make fun of me, for everyone else was crying too.

Great Job,
I like how you didn't just include what happened in the story. It really helped me understand how you (Jack) felt when you were talking to samneric when you called them brats. It was great that you added Jacks thoughts into the story, it gave a lot more detail.
Very descriptive!
