Today in class we watched the series Planet Earth. The biome we learned about was the tropical grass land biome. We learned a lot about grass in general. Grass covers 1/4 of the land in the world and can grow all over the world from extremely hot to extremely cold places like the arctic tundra. Snow geese fly the entire length of north America just to get to the arctic tundra for the summer, they nest and lay their eggs, and eat the grass. Their nemesis, the arctic foxes, eat the geese but summer there is very short, so soon they have to leave with their babies and go back home. Another place that is the complete opposite of the arctic tundra is the plains of Africa, and even there where there is barely any water, grass can grow. This grass supports the whole food chain of Africa and gives food to all the animals. After we finished watching the program about the grass lands we started to watch the one about tropical rain forests. Just so you all know, for vacation I went to the Amazon to the exact place where they filmed the Planet Earth series on the Amazon, and it was awesome because I saw it all in person!
